Over the course of the next couple of weeks I want to point out some of the laws and commandments given to the children of Israel in the Old Testament. Eventually I want to use all these to make a point. Some of them address topics that are “adult”. They are all from the Bible though.
Let’s start with Leviticus 19:19. It states ” . . Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of fabric.”
Can you imagine the shakeup this would cause if pastors started teaching this commandment from the pulpit. I have a few observations and questions about what might happen.
1) Would most people in the congregations show up wearing a T-shirt the next week? At least most of them are 100% cotton.
2) After the people in the congregations clear out all their two of more fabric clothing what will they do with it?
3) They can’t give it to the Goodwill or Salvation Army. Even if others would use these clothes how could we give them clothing that would cause them to sin by wearing it.
4) They couldn’t be thrown in the trash. There are people that would go through it and find the clothes. This would be bad for the same reason as #3.
5) I don’t think they could burn them all. That would probably create a toxic cloud that would kill people for miles around.
6) Would there be a rebel in the church that would sew fake tags into clothes to make them appear to be only one fabric when they aren’t?
7) Would this one simple teaching cause such a clothes buying frenzy that it would do more to stimulate the economy than the governments current stimulus package?
Feel free to post some of your thoughts on what would happen. I would love to hear them.

Very funny stuff! I don’t know where you are headed, but this is hilarious! And I loved the thought about it creating an economic stimulus.
What about synthetic fabrics, like nylon? Would they be OK if the clothes are made only from nylon? OR would they, too, be outlawed because they are basically made by “combining” more than one kind of raw material to make the nylon . . . interesting, huh? And if we eliminate everything but natural materials, then we are left with cotton and wool, I suppose, and I can’t wear wool . . . so it’s just underwear for me.
Speaking of underwear, I just had a thought . . . what would women do for a bra? Do they even make a 100% cotton bras? (I just Googled ; seems they do . . . so what I know, really . . . check it out here).
So next Sunday, it’s underwear and pajamas only!

I’m not sure I’m ready to start attending church again yet, but when your church starts doing the underwear and pajamas thing let me know. I would attend a few Sundays just to watch the reactions.
