Ken

September 15th, 2009

My name is Ken. Music is my life. I play the guitar (and many other instruments… some poorly… all by ear) and DJ, when I’m not twisting screws on some piece of office equipment. I spent the greater part of my life searching for some kind of sign that God was real, and really cared for me. (I never did see that shooting star!) I found the answer one night when I asked a simple rhetorical question at a low point in my life : “Why can’t I just have somebody love me?” A simple question from a broken heart. “I love you so much I sent my only Son to die for you” was the answer I heard. I was not a religious person and did not think that way… EVER! That moment changed my life.

I like to find opportunities to talk to people about Jesus when they need it, not me. I can’t do a thing for the guy that comes to church every Sunday in his BMW, always tithes and volunteers to hand out the bulletins. But I can help the person who is hurting so bad that they feel like they can’t go on. The guy in an 8×8 cell who has lost everything because of a stupid mistake (we all fall short!). The guy with tattoos and piercings. The “tax collectors and prostitutes”.  I remember when I was DJing at a club downtown during the B.B.Q. fest and had stepped outside to take a break. I had two gentlemen approach me and ask me if they could talk to me about Jesus. “Sure”, I said, “What would you like to know?” They assumed that because of where I was, and how I was dressed, I wouldn’t know about Christ. Never assume you know someone by their appearance!

I’m married to the love of my life, Tina. She is the answer to a prayer for someone special, that would love me for me. She is an amazing cook, and I’ve come to learn that it doesn’t really matter which way the toilet paper is placed on the holder after all.  I don’t think she knows just how wonderful she is! We laugh all the time (mostly her at me), and love to kayak, camp and fish.  She is truly my BFF!
